Bush ANNOUNCES the united states Will enter Iraq |
March 17th 2003; President Bush of the United States of America gives a speech on national television declaring the US is marching into Iraq and our intentions. He begins by recalling past events, and how the US has worked for multiple years of diplomacy after the Persian gulf war but to no avail. He then continues to talk about how the real enemy isn’t Iraq’s people, but their government and the oppressive regime of Saddam Hussein. Bush then speaks on how the world is currently taking action and how a coalition force of multiple nations is gathering to march into Iraq and neutralize the threat. Then he states that the Iraqi people will hear a message from him to them translated in their language. The message reads; “If we must begin a military campaign, it will be directed against the lawless men who rule your country and not against you. As our coalition takes away their power, we will deliver the food and medicine you need. We will tear down the apparatus of terror and we will help you to build a new Iraq that is prosperous and free.” Before concluding his speech and summarizing what he has touched on, Bush speaks on how America's security during this time of war shall be increased, meaning that our airports will be fortified and our sea borders shall be buffered with naval forces. This speech is such a pivotal part in the war because this is the direct declaration of war on Iraq presented in front of all America’s people. This is the official begin of the United States assault on Iraq
